The company was established in 1995 by Peter B. Roche, a former Wall Street Journal reporter and editor who has also served as a managing director and head of media relations at Burson-Marsteller and as vice president, corporate communications, for Morgan Stanley Group Inc.
The consulting group at IPR provides media and investor relations services to a variety of "blue-chip" organizations, including commercial and investment banks, mutual fund companies, discount brokerage firms, Internet site developers and one of the world's largest consulting firms.
IPR also produces a wide range of media information. Its flagship publication is the International Press Review, a guide to international business and financial media. IPR also furnishes customized media lists and background information on journalists and publications.
